Lodging Kicking Horse Closed

Glacier Mountaineer Lodge is the place to stay in the heart of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort's village. Kicking Horse is located in Golden, 2.5 hours from Calgary Airport along the Trans-Canada Highway 1. Glacier Mountaineer Lodge is just a few ski boot steps from Kicking Horse's Gondola, so you are totally ski-in, ski-out, in the heart of the on mountain alpine village so you can walk to everything, the small market, coffee bar, ski shops, Day Lodge with ski services, and Peaks après ski bar. Best of all you are surrounded by the peaks of the Purcells, the Canadian Rocky Mountains and the Selkirk Mountains where heli-skiing operation are based.

Accommodations at Glacier Mountaineer Lodges range from guest rooms to spacious 2-3 bedroom suites that sleep up to ten, with the Mountaineer building offering the larger more luxurious of the two buildings. Each guest suite offers a cozy gas fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, balcony with breathtaking scenery, and washer and dryers. The Glacier and Mountaineer, next to one another, have all the guest amenities skiers would expect: underground parking, ski storage, a steam room and sauna, an outdoor hot tub and 24 hour front desk service, WiFi and a fitness center - though if you ski Kicking Horse's kick ass terrain you shouldn't need to work out in the evenings. Instead head for après ski in the village at Peaks or the Kicking Horse Saloon, after a soak in the small outdoor hot tub or the Jacuzzi in your suite. The Glacier Mountaineer doesn’t have any dining or a huge lobby since this is primarily condo style lodging.

For dining, Kicking Horse's Eagle’s Eye is an amazing dining experience at the top of the mountain, take the gondola up before sunset to watch the glow of the day descend over the amazing mountain peaks, stay for a drink, and for a magical evening at the summit, or you can make this a scenic lunch spot during your ski day. Make reservations as Eagle’s Eye gets busy being the prime spot during prime time.

In the Kicking Horse Village, Peaks offers casual pub dining at the base of the gondola with comfy chairs to relax in after your big ski day. Corks is a five-minute walk from Glacier Mountaineer Lodge at the Copper House Lodge, with cuisines, a few ski turns above standard pub fare with a kicked back atmosphere. The Kicking Horse Pub is another popular local pub spot next door to Corks.

Kicking Horse’s other ski in ski out properties include Palliser Lodge, Copper Horse Lodge, Vagabond Lodge, and Winston Lodge at the ski mountain base. There are also a few luxury Kicking Horse ski chalet rentals. Or you can lodge in downtown Golden at the Days Inn or other affordable motels, but you’re not slope side when the lifts open.

Kicking Horse is an RCR sister resort to Kimberley, Fernie, and Nakiska in western Canada, Mont Sainte Anne and Stoneham in Quebec. Consider making Kicking Horse part of a Canadian ski safari starting in Calgary, driving the TransCanada Highway, visiting Revelstoke two hours away also in British Columbia, and nearby Lake Louise and Sunshine in Banff Alberta.
