Lodging Revelstoke Mountain Resort Closed

Sutton Place Hotel is the best place to stay at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, right at the base area of Revelstoke ski slopes in British Columbia. The luxurious Sutton Place Hotel has a beautiful on mountain setting, with excellent views of the ski slopes and across the Columbia River to the Monashee Mountains, where heli-skiing takes place. Sutton Place was designed in contemporary mountain architecture with local stone and wood beams in a modern alpine twist. Of the 207 guest suites, there are several buildings, we recommend Building 1 for the best views, best outdoor enclosed hot tub, and the soaring swank lobby where welcome wine and cheese is served. Your suite style unit is decorated with natural stone, wood, leather, granite and sleek stainless steel appliances. The compact but ideal kitchen (do your grocery shopping in town at Revelstoke on your way up the hill) is perfect for small meal preps.

The Sutton Place is right next to the Revelation Gondola in the ski village, and has its own ski storage, underground parking, and even ski valet if you are too lazy or tired from huge vertical to carry your skis to your locker. Complimentary hot cocoa and coffee are served by the concierge right outside the Sutton after skiing, a nice welcome back to the hotel after your workout on the slopes.

Après ski at Revelstoke, check your email on the Sutton Place complimentary wifi, then head for their outdoor hot tubs and pool. There is a fitness center at Sutton Place Revelstoke too but you shouldn’t need that after skiing Revel's core terrain or a day of heli-skiing with one of the many heli-ski outfits in Revelstoke including Selkirk Tangiers Heli Ski, Purcell Heli-Ski, and Eagle Pass Heli-Skiing.

The best dining at Revelstoke Resort is just a few steps outside of The Sutton Place at Rockford Wok/Bar/Grille in an upscale ski chic environment. An open kitchen and big bar or table seating is your choice as you enjoy a fun menu of burgers to exotic West's Pacific Rim cuisine. The Mongolian beef noodle bowl after skiing North Bowl is unexpected but appetizing in the Canadian mountains, amid other Asian-themed wok-fired dishes. For more casual après ski munchies, The Village Tavern - also known as Mackenzie Common Tavern has a great atmosphere and easy to share options. La Baguette café and coffee shop serves breakfast and lunch and grab and go for later, all within steps of the Village, the ski lifts and your guest suite.

You can also grab a shuttle to downtown Revelstoke, a very authentic western Canadian town with great history, for more dining options. We highly recommend the local gourmet Woolsey Creek - an inviting casual atmosphere serving a fantastic menu of Canadian specialties like elk, duck, native fish and specials soups. Village Idiot and Last Drop are popular bars in town with the locals, with pizzas, burgers, nachos – the usual suspects, plus entertainment and ski town tom foolery.

But you will want to rest up for more of Revelstoke's unrelenting skiing the next day. Revelstoke is Canada’s newest ski resort, having opened in 2006, although this town has a long history of skiing in the Monashees and nearby Boulder Mountain. Revelstoke has quickly grabbed extreme skiers’ attention, offering the most lift served vertical in North America at 5,620'. Backed by a reputation for powder snow and advanced all natural terrain, Revelstoke’s 3,121 ac of fall-line runs, wide-open bowls, and beautiful glades, plus a few groomed trails, and a new village-based beginner area and tubing park make it worthy.

The drive to Revelstoke and Sutton Place is 4.5 hours from Calgary Airport on the Trans Canada Highway, passing through beautiful Banff National Park, so you can visit Sunshine and Lake Louise and stay a few days in Golden skiing Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Or you can fly into Kelowna, 2 hours away.
