The cliffs and the other attributes that give a great resort amazing terrain all play into the mountain terrain at Whistler Blackcombe.

This is by far the largest resort in North America. Between in bounds and out of bounds terrain, it is the steepest area in North America.

Whistler has it all, big mountains, small city (the village)and relatively a good price. It's just so nice to be able to fly in (then bus for 2 hrs - only bad point) and then be able to walk to everything you need - mountains, food, shops, bars. It's great.

This is the ultimate resort town. It features unlimited skiing for all levels (a great place to learn and grow!) and phenomenal dining and shopping choices. I have an affection for Mammoth, but until Mammoth becomes more convenient (which I know will happen soon), Whistler is the place!

Great variety of skiing between two big-vertical mountains; and a great lift system to get you around. Unfortunately a little hard to get to (for someone from the east coast of the U.S.), and a bit on the expensive side.

The availability of runs is great. The snow conditions are less consistent than at resorts in the Sierra, but you never get bored with the runs.

Altogether Whistler excels in Terrain (different skill levels), types of lodging available, eating from gourmet dining to grocery shopping and it seems to have something for everyone. Transportation is great, we've taken everything from Limo's to the Greyhound bus and everything in between from YVR.

Whistler is the best resort in every aspect listed. There are two extremely large mountains to ski on which are both the best skiing/snowboarding mountains in North America by far. Large bowls, challenging slopes, 6 terrain parks, great weather, and always great snow. Exceptional ski/boarding schools. Wonderful family environment and also a very exciting night life for the drinking crowd. Provides ample and diverse shopping and restraunts all with amazing food. The scenery is breathtaking. Large glaciers at the bottom, and towering mountains with amazing sunrise and sunset puts you in paradise. By far the best ski/board vacation you will ever take for any type of group.

I've been to Whistler each of the past four winters. When there's snow, it can't be beat. Unfortunately, we've had rain for two of the four trips, which made them absolutely miserable. It's hands down the premier destination in North America, but be aware that the weather can be very hit-or-miss.

You don't need a car to get around; shuttle ride from Vancouver airport is 90 min. and that's it - no more cars after that! You can ski 2 different mountains in the same day(Whistler&Blackcomb)with gondolas starting at the same spot at the bottom of the mountain. The village is very beautiful and US$ goes a long way(unlike anywhere else in the developed world...). People are very friendly and not as pretentious as in some of the CO resorts. Whistler/Blackcomb is the best ski resort in North America. Period. Both mountains, by themselves, would be considered world class. The size, the terrain, the snow, and the night life make Whistler second to none in North America and on par with some of the great areas in Europe.

Van Couver offers many attractions as well. The temperatures may be warmer in the city - I was there in February & was able to hike around Van Couver in 55?F temperatures, it was a nice contrast to the cold & snow up on Whistler/Blackcomb.

Great variety of skiing between two big-vertical mountains; and a great lift system to get you around. Unfortunately a little hard to get to (for someone from the east coast of the U.S.), and a bit on the expensive side.

Not only is the skiing good (when they have great sbow), the nightlife and shopping is wonderful. The village has so much to offer for families, couples and singles. And the travel time to get there is about the same as any other resort except in the Utah area.

Posted on May 20, 2008
Patricio from Oregon

Whistler/Blackcomb is the best ski resort in North America. Period. Both mountains, by themselves, would be considered world class. The size, the terrain, the snow, and the night life make Whistler second to none in North America and on par with some of the great areas in Europe.

Posted on May 03, 2008

I've been to Whistler each of the past four winters. When there's snow, it can't be beat. Unfortunately, we've had rain for two of the four trips, which made them absolutely miserable. It's hands down the premier destination in North America, but be aware that the weather can be very hit-or-miss.

Posted on May 08, 2004

What I really love about Whistler, other than the skiing, is the town at the bottom of the slopes. It's the prettiest ski town I've ever been to and I'm longing to go back. Please keep it affordable so everyone can enjoy it!!
