It has the best terrain for a skier. it has a crossover to the backside that makes it more accessible to skiiers and less to snowboarders.

The last time I skied there, the conditions were great. (I also like staying in RENO)

Easy access from Reno. Difficult getting Military discount at resort.

Nice diversity that caters to advanced intermediate ability, and it has rare, tree-lined runs.

Not overcrowded. Beautiful scenery. Runs make me feel like a pro.

Northstar is one of the smaller resorts at Lake Tahoe but it offers a nice variety of runs--from novice to expert--and it's easy to get to the runs you like best. The lift lines are always short and the weather is usually decent. They groom their runs thoroughly (I'm not a powder skier) and their backside runs are the perfect combo of steep, challenging and still manageable. I've been there quite a few times now and have never had a bad experience. Even the food is great...and reasonably priced. The scenery is to die for...as is all of Lake Tahoe.

We skiied Tahoe this year, and although the snow was not as good as Colorado, the terrain was beautiful, and accessable to an intermediate skiier.
