Mammoth is in the process of becoming a great place for the apres ski. Mammoth is a little inconvenient and spread out at this time. The new managers/owners are doing the right moves toward making the whole ski exerience there better!

This is a large mountain and there is never a wait in lift lines. It is also a challenge to ski some of the black slopes

It has the greatest range of terrain, almost always decent to great snow, and the town and lodging options are varied enough in price and style to suit our needs.

We have been skiing at Mammoth for the past 30 years and it is our favorite! It's a huge mountain, lots of varied terrain and consistent great snow. The ski school is excellent and there are lots of amenities at the resort. We love the small town ambiance and the friendly people who live in Mammoth. It's great for families and singles and has many other things to do beside skiing! Fly fishing, camping, hiking, and a GREAT summer bike park make this a year-round spot for us.

This mountain has lots of varied runs and is within a 7 hour drive. Cost is a factor in getting to a resort for my family.

This place is huge and offers terrain for all levels of skier and rider. From the Bowls and Chutes at the top to the intermediate rollers in the mid-section of the mountain to the easy groomers at the bottom. Too many lifts to mention here!. All Fast all quiet. Snow pack was 14-18 feet this year. Unbelievable. The climate is great in that it is humid enough to not dry you out like Colorado and Utah, and warm enough to ski/ride in light attire. Plus that California Sun. Awesome.

I think that Mammoth has the best combination of great snow and terrain. Lots to do and easy to challenge yourself. There are tons of runs to chose from at all levels so if you go with a group, everyone can find something they like from beginner to advanced. The snow is consistently good or good enough. It's rare that I'm disappointed with the conditions. I also like that there are several lodges so that you have many options of what to do for lunch. There's not tons of nightlife, but it's easy enough to find stuff to do.
