Overview

The Good

  • Highest lift in North America at 12,840 ft for some big mountain shredding
  • Bustling historic mining town with a laid-back vibe
  • Party town reputation - they got après ski down packed
  • Wide range of lodgings from modest to luxury to suit all budgets
  • Award-winning terrain parks (some of the best in the world!)

The Bad

  • Epic wind chill so wrap up warm
  • High elevation means top lifts can close for days
  • Slopes can get crowded, ugh!
  • Snow can be blow-packed into a crusty shell
  • High altitude can cause altitude sickness

Breckenridge offers something for almost everyone. The mountain terrain meets virtually all ability levels and the town embraces you. It's a great place for a family ski trip.

I like the diversity of Breckenridge as well. There's a lot of intermediate slopes, fast lifts and wide terrain/bowls. I also like how you get three ski areas for one lift ticket price

1) For intermediate skiers the newer Peak 7 area is incredible. 2) There are multiple areas that any skill level can use so as not to feel restricted. Newbies can ski multiple lifts (Quicksilver, A, 5 and 7). Many resorts have a single bunny slope.
