I have not visited many other resorts other than Beckenridge but my feeling is Vail is world class and my experience there was well worth every penny I spent. You don't always feel that way about spending that much money on a sport but a day at Vail, wow, priceless.

Everything at the mountain appears to have been engineered to be 'smart'. Lifts work together to move lots of people in many different combinations of directions; trails blend easily; incredible varieties of skiing--cruising, trees, steeps, bowls, bumps. Crowds of people, yet always somewhere to escape to. On-mountain food choices offer more variety and consistent high quality than anywhere else.

We loved everyting about vail. In addition to great skiing, dining, shopping and nightlife was fantastic. The shuttle service was so convenient, it picked us up with our skis at our resport and took us right to the bottom of the gondola, we could take it to the village for great dining and shopping. We rented a car while we were there and did not need it. I know you asked about Lake Tahoe, We loved the skiing but other than that there was not much esle to do there.

only been to the Colorado resorts. Of the resorts that I have been to Vail is the best. A lot of terrain, although snow conditions can get nasty in the back bowls if fresh snow isn't frequent.
