I absolutely love Mt Rose... Amazing snow, conditions, and views. Close to Reno and Tahoe. Awesome staff and they really take care of the locals and passholders. None of the overpriced corporate feeling you get (nearly) anyplace else at Tahoe.

Mt. Rose isn't as glitzy as a lot of Tahoe ski resorts, but it has good snow and good terrain. The Chutes are about as tough as anything in-bounds in California, and can vary a lot based on conditions. The backside has some great wide-open bowls. It's also a good place to learn to ski or board, and usually doesn't get super crowded. The views aren't as nice as some Tahoe places, but the high base means the snow says good in the spring. Unfortunately, Mt. Rose has raised ticket prices a lot recently, so it's not quite as much of a deal as it once was. Still, a good option for varied terrain close to Reno.

The end of the year they offer great deals. They offer a 4 person all day ski lift pass for only $100! It is a great place for beginners because they provide about 4 or 5 ski lift with different difficulties. The gift shop and restuarant is a great attraction with plenty of gifts and delicious foods.
