Park City Mountain Resort, located in Park City, Utah, is one of the premier ski destinations in the United States. The resort is known as one of the largest ski resorts with the interconnect Gondola adjoining Canyons Resort, which boasts 7,300 acres of skiable terrain.

Park City Mountain Lift Tickets

Park City has several lift pass options including day lift tickets and EPIC Passes. Below is a breakdown of the lift passes and the key differences between the passes.

Day Lift Ticket

The day lift ticket can be purchased at the ticket office and online. If purchased online, you will need to pick up the lift ticket at the Park City ticket offices. This is almost always the most expensive option as you are purchasing at the last minute. 

  • Mountain Access: This ticket will give you lift access to Park City.
  • Days Valid at Park City: Valid for the set days you’ve purchased the ticket. 
  • Available for Purchase: After early December when EPIC passes go off sale.
  • Ideal for: Unplanned ski vacation or a last-minute day trip to Park City. 

EPIC Day Pass

The EPIC day passes range from 1 to 7 days with the option of restricted and unrestricted. Restricted passes cannot be used on blackout dates, while unrestricted passes can.

  • Mountain Access: This pass gives you access to all 38 resorts owned by Vail Resorts plus partnered resorts (only for 4-day passes and above). This includes major Colorado resorts such as Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Crested Butte.
  • Cost: The cost of the pass depends on whether it is restricted or unrestricted, with restricted passes being cheaper. The cost also depends on when you purchase the pass. Prices increase around September and November. Ranges from around $80 - $100 per day. 
  • Days Valid at Park City: The number of ski days on the passes is valid throughout the entire season, except on blackout dates if a restricted pass is purchased.
  • Available for Purchase: Usually available for purchase around April until late November to early December.
  • Ideal for: When you are certain that you will be going skiing before the ski season.

Epic Local Pass

The Epic Local Pass gives you unlimited and unrestricted access to 29 resorts, including Breckenridge and Keystone, plus restricted access to 8 other resorts with some access limitations. 

  • Days Valid at Park City: This pass gives you unlimited access to Park City excluding blackout dates.
  • Available for Purchase: This goes off sale around late November to early December.
  • Ideal for: If you are planning to ski more than 7 days at Park City, or a lot at other Vail-owned ski resorts, with flexible ski dates depending on the resort access restrictions.

Epic Season Pass

This is the flagship Epic product. It gives you access to all 38 Vail-owned resorts and is valid for the entire ski season with unlimited days of skiing. It is the most flexible and cheapest option if you are planning to ski for more than 7 days.

  • Available for Purchase: This goes off sale around late November to early December after which you will need to purchase a lift ticket. 
  • Ideal for: If you are planning to ski a lot at Park City (or other Vail-owned ski resorts).

Park City Ski and Snowboard Lessons

Park City Ski and Snowboard School offer both group and private lessons as well as ski programs.

  • Group Lesson: This lesson is catered for a specific ability level for ages 3+ with the option of a full day or half day (AM or PM). 
  • Private Lesson: This is a customized full or half-day lesson for individuals, groups, or families.
  • All-Terrain Program: This is a unique and challenging program designed for children ages 7-14. It is suitable for Intermediate to Advanced skill levels (level 5+) skiers and snowboarders. 
  • Local Youth Programs: This is a multi-week seasonal program for ages 3.5 and above.
  • Adult Programs: This is a multi-session program, including Masters Race Training (ages 18+), Women’s Ski Program (ages 21+), 3-Day Ski Academy (ages 21+) and 5-Day Ski College (ages 21+). 

Nearest Town to Park City Mountain

The nearest town to Park City, Utah is Heber City, which is approximately 23 miles from the resort. Heber City is conveniently located near some of the best skiing in Utah, including Snowbird, Brighton, Alta, and Deer Valley.

Salt Lake City is the closest major city, located roughly 32 miles to the west of Park City, and offers a wider variety of dining and shopping options. 

On Mountain Dining

Park City has a number of on-mountain dining options across the two villages. Below are some of the highly-rated dining locations.

Located 1st floor in Legacy Lodge at the Mountain Village Base. The restaurant offers pub-style meals and hand-crafted cocktails and wine.

The restaurant delivers an authentic European dining experience with a diverse menu that includes a range of dishes, from seafood and meat to cheese and dessert offerings. When is the best time to go skiing in Park City Mountain?

February to March are the best times to visit Park City. The ski season at Park City can last for five whole glorious months, from mid-November to mid-April. When it comes to snowfall, there is no reliable pattern in Utah, but the local consensus is that the second half of February is when the best powder is served, usually around the time of the Presidents’ Day national holiday.
