Jackson Hole Lodging and Accommodations

White Buffalo Club
White Buffalo Club is ideal for skiers that want to stay in town during their Jackson, Wyoming ski trip. Jackson is such a great cowboy ski town, and The White Buffalo Club encompasses the Wild West in its decor with all the luxuries you hope for as a traveling skier. From the fantastic artwork filled lobby to the sophisticated suites, and spa-like fitness room, this property feels like a posh private club, and it is. Skiing is just 20 minutes away at Jackson Hole, or 5 if you ski the in-town Snow King Resort, and après ski and Jackson’s nightlife is just a cattle roping away.
White Buffalo Club opened in 2008, with 17 beautifully appointed suites. Our two-bedroom suite offered plenty of room for our family of four, three baths with gorgeous stone walk-in showers, and a most spacious kitchen in the main room of the suite with a giant horseshoe-shaped granite bar and two big flat screen TVs overhead, a unique set up in lieu of a living room. The designer probably believes as many do, that the heart of any home, or condo, is the kitchen, and White Buffalo Club capitalizes on that with their entertaining floor plan. The theme is decidedly new west with stonework, leather and indigenous art featuring local game and scenes of the Grand Tetons.
White Buffalo Club is indeed a club with fitness memberships available to their state of the art fitness facilities (free for lodging guests) located downstairs along with Cellar’s bar and grill restaurant – a great spot for après ski drinks and dinner. If you came here to ski at Jackson Hole, you may not feel the need to workout, instead we walked to town, just two blocks to the main drag of the cowboy town of Jackson, where the world-famous elk arches and cowboy bars are located. You can shop for that rabbit skin cowboy hat, leather coat or a Jackson t-shirt, or visit several top galleries filled with photographs and paintings of the beautiful Teton Valley surroundings and sculptures of the big game that wanders Wyoming. Then saddling up to a bar stool saddle at one of the many cowboy bars, steak houses or brew pubs, whatever your fancy in this not-so-fancy but fun ski town.
You don’t need a car here, although White Buffalo Club does provide heated indoor parking free with lodging, you can catch a coach from the Jackson airport just 15 minutes away and take the free shuttle bus to skiing at Jackson Hole. Check out White Buffalo Club's Official Website.
Four Season Resort
The Ski Concierge at Four Season had me at “may I unbuckle your ski boots for you, Ms. Burke?” This is living, and skiing at its peak at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The Four Seasons at Jackson Hole is by far the best ski hotel in Wyoming and arguably best in the west. Posh service for powder lovers starts with the ski concierge who handles your equipment from the curb to corduroy - taking the hassle out of hauling your ski gear.
The spacious suites have beautiful appointments and awesome views of the mountain or the valley, while the Hotel’s numerous lobbies and library offer sumptuous leather couches, fireplaces, and fine dining all with a view of the skiing up to Jackson Hole’s Tram summit.
As skis and boots are whisked away, replaced by slippers, après ski in the fireside Four Seasons lounge seems the next obvious choice. Families circle around outdoor firepit tables for s’mores, while couples inside enjoy freshly prepared sushi in the fireside lounge, or artfully prepared elk, bison, and wagyu beef in the elegant West Grill.
At the outdoor heated spa and pool, your fluffy robes and towels are stored in a heated closet by an attendant and handed to you after your soak. There is a full-service spa at the Four Seasons as well. Or borrow a Mercedes Benz and drive to town to find those perfect cowboy boots or that lovely leather or fur coat.
For a break from the butt kicking terrain at Jackson Hole, The Four Seasons concierge will orchestrate a wilderness safari with Tenley, their naturalist, and photographer. Tenley chauffeurs you just a mile outside of Jackson, in a Mercedes SUV equipped with individual Swarovski binoculars, to The National Elk Refuge where 9,000 of these grand animals graze. In our afternoon, we saw the big four: elk, moose, bison and bighorn sheep, the bear were hibernating. We saw a wily coyote and elegant white trumpeter swan, while we snacked on our delicious car picnic created by the Four Seasons chef.
Warning: you will be spoiled after your stay at the five-star Four Season Jackson Hole, it will be hard to go home, buckle your own ski boots, or go anywhere else again. See other top luxury ski hotels in the Western Rockies, the best ski hotels in the East, in Canada, in Austria and Switzerland.
Arriving at Amangani is like arriving at your private hideaway in the spectacular Teton Valley of Jackson Wyoming. This amazing hotel is perfectly blended into the mountainside – a low-profile architectural marvel. Bellmen whisk your bags while the concierge and management team greet you in the grand lobby of soaring redwood, flagstone and glass that frames the beautiful landscape, and the elk grazing on the hillside below. Everything is seamlessly tended to in the spa-like atmosphere of the 40-suite resort. Each spectacular suite has the latest luxuries in an art-deco meets west motif, plus a private balcony, extravagant sized bath with slate walk-in shower and soaking tub – with floor to ceiling windows to the Tetons.
The outdoor reverse edge heated pool and spa tub is the best place to start your après ski Amangani experience with views of Snow King and Jackson Hole where you just skied, just wear your robe and slippers from your perfectly appointed suite to the full-service spa. Amangani means peaceful home, and the staff caters to you with every creature comfort.
Amangani is part of Aman Resorts, a luxury resort collection started in 1985, with 31 posh properties in 20 countries. Seasoned (ok, spoiled) guests call themselves Amanjunkies and tour the globe seeking the next swank Aman resort from Phuket to the luxe slope-side Aman Le Melezin in beautiful Courchevel France and yes, Jackson Wyoming.
From Amangani in Jackson, you could simply enjoy the spa, and 115’ heated pool, sit and read by the grand fireplaces in the luxurious library and expansive lobby, or the inviting Zinc Bar – cocktails can be served anywhere at your whim. Or you can take a complimentary shuttle to ski Jackson Hole where Amangani has an exclusive Ski Lounge where your skis and boots are stored and cared for during your ski stay, or go ski Snow King in town for a few hours.
Back at Amangani, a beautiful fitness room, massages, and yoga classes are at your beckon call. The on staff naturalist also offers wildlife safaris in their SUVs to the National Elk Refuge and Grand Teton National Park – but we were content watching twenty big elk from our suite balcony. The cuisine at Amangani Grill is as Haute as the 6,000’ elevation resort, with a James Beard award-winning chef preparing beautiful plates of bison, elk, Wagyu beef (basically all the big game you saw out grazing), and steelhead trout.
Jackson Wyoming’s Amangani is – in a word – amazing.
