The Mecca of winter sports! Best skiing, mountaineering, alpine touring and anything else from easy to extreme! Don't ski during snowstorms. The visibility is too low because there is no trees high up the mountains. Very low visibility. Great town, gets lately a little too... More

OMG! This granddaddy of French winter resorts on the Swiss/Italian border has enough ski terrain to keep you busy for weeks. The lifts are high and downright scary, topping out on high ridges way above the glaciers. The five independent ski areas make it too big to do the... More

I have been lucky enough to ski almost everywhere in the Western USA and Chile. The combination of skiing, culture and food found in Chamonix are unrivaled anywhere. Any serious skier owes himself a trip to Chamonix. ... More

First going to Chamonix is going inside the mountains. Chamonix is not a ski resort, it's door to mountain. That is the reason why it is not the best family and beginner resort. Elevation is high, up to 12500 feet and conditions can change quickly. But if it is a good day it... More

In 2014/5 my family hired a chalet at Les Houches in the Chamonix valley for four months. While it was a very poor season by local standards, it was better than any season w have experienced in Australia & had real powder. The entire valley of 6 separate resorts was brilliant and... More

Incredible resort, lives up to the reputation. Any passionate skier should have it on their bucket list. Incredible terrain. Large town that was there before the ski lifts so there is a lot of character and plenty to do. The downsides are that the town is not ski-in ski-out and... More

As the birthplace of big mnt skiing Chamonix will never disappoint the expert skier. You will need a guide at this resort to really access the goods. Head down the Vallee Blanche for an amazing day out, especially after new snow. Good town but not great for party.
