The Good

  • Reliable snowfall and excellent ski touring across resorts
  • Top notch terrain park plus an open gate for backcountry access
  • Modern and fast lift system combined with quiet slopes during the week
  • In-bounds off-piste terrain serves up waist deep pow!
  • Family-friendly resort

The Bad

  • On-mountain dining lacks variety and restaurants get packed!
  • Extremely limited accommodation options at the base areas
  • Lack of après-ski and off-slope activities

Find Freshies: Head over the back ridge at Goryu or weave through the trees at Hakuba 47 for plenty of powder stashes. The resort is north facing so the snow is fresh for days!

Ditch the Crowds: Intermediate skiers can escape the crowds in the Iimori area while advanced skiers can check out the well-spaced out Grand Prix Course. During weekends, Hakuba 47 sees fewer local crowds.

Local's Pick: Route 1 at Hakuba 47 is a long, straight and fast run, so fast in fact, it's used for downhill races! In Goryu, the Grand Prix Course has just the right steepness and enough space to make wide turns. Dive into the off-piste trees along this course, the waist deep pow here is a real treat!

Fantastic conditions with a good variety of runs for all skill levels. Good lifts with little waiting to get up the mountain. Hope for a blue bird day, the view from the Corona bar is exceptional, I wish I was there now!... More

Fantastic resort for all ages. The best experience was riding down the numerous runs and pulling up at the bottom to walk in for a hot lunch! Wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again!... More

I stayed 5 minutes walk from the resort. I believe this was one of the better and quieter resorts in the hakuba valley. Lovely setup, plenty of runs at different levels amd easy to access. The only downside to the resort is a lack of apres dining spots, although all the... More

We are looking at this option for a school tour. From our information gathering, the resort offers great options for dining and a range of terrain for differing levels. Perhaps better is that it would seem the hospitality is second to none - a key feature of an overseas tour with... More

Hakuba is home to the largest ski resort in Japan! Soft powdery snow is in abundance and all slopes are well maintained. Stay at resorts can bite your pocket, however, it does offer closeness to gondolas and street food and sake outlets. Planning to visit again next year.... More
