Elk is close to where I live in PA. It makes for a great day trip. They have the best snowmaking in PA and it is always consistant. Not only are their staff warm and friendly, the people who frequent the mountain are equally as friendly. Never a quiet lift ride up the mountain.... More

It's easy to get to (right on interstate), great beginner and intermediate slops for the kids and inexperienced, and great, convenient shopping/restaurants.
