Snowshoe Mountain

If you're looking for a big resort experience in the Southeast, Snowshoe is the perfect resort. It has the most terrain and vertical in the Mid-Atlantic along with a village filled with a range of lodges and a whole bunch of great après ski and nightlife choices. There are a few high-speed lifts around but on a holiday weekend, lift queues can get quite long. The terrain is mostly suited for advanced skiers and below and it's also important to note that off-piste skiing is not allowed.

Terrible experience. We stayed in a place that was literally falling apart. The door to the patio wouldn't close. Snow was coming into our room. Tried to get maintenance to come fix it, but the guy never showed. Eventually we fixed it ourselves because we were cold. Staff was rude and unhelpful. We ended up leaving a day early it was so bad.... More

Snowshoe Mountain is great for short stays. It is a very affordable resort, and has some of the best skiing withing a resonable driving distance of the D.C. area. It tends to be much less crowded than other ski resorts closer to D.C. and also has a better layout overall. Furthermore, the location of the town on top of the mountain means no waiting... More

Snowshoe is excellent for an east coast resort. The pass is probably the best deal on the east coast. The small town area has great food and shops. Wonderful get away spot. Not the west coast but great riding.... More

Best resort in the southeast, nothing really even comes close. Lift lines can get extremely long, especially on holiday weekends, but it is the only mountain in southeast where a powder day actually means powder day... More

This is easily the best place to ski on the lower east coast. My first few days were warm and slushy, but by the last day heavy snowfall moved in and it was incredible. ... More

Snowshoe resort provides without a doubt the best skiing south of Pennsylvania on the East coast. Its high elevation gives it snow that other resorts normally wouldn't get. Odd but fun that the resort is at the summit and not the base of the mountain. Best bet for anyone looking to go from Virginia or North Carolina.... More

Snowshoe has it all. The resort has the most runs I have seen at one resort. As a beginner/intermediate skiier I also appreciate that the have a wide variety of green slopes that offer more than you typical straight downhill. They have a huge amount of blues, blacks, and double blacks too though. The snow is always good here too but in short... More
