When is the best time to go on a ski vacation to Whistler?

To answer that question I had to get the answers to these questions first.

What weeks have the least expensive packages?

What weeks have the most expensive packages?

What months have the most snowfall?

What months have the least snowfall?

The bottom line first.

I'd pick the week just before the Christmas/New Years holiday pricing period. This is usually the third week in December. During this period (11/28-12/20) the prices are 70% below the season average. Also, December has the highest snowfall average over the past 12 years. Of course there are other issues to consider. There are many events throughout the season you may want to attend, like the World Ski & Snowboard Festival usually held in April. But if pricing and snowfall are your most important issues this timeframe is by far the best.

Here are all the Whistler packages we currently have. They are supplied by various travel companies that specialize in ski packages to Whistler.

What months have the most snowfall?

December has averaged 97" over the last 12 seasons, beating out November (92") by 5".

What months have the least snowfall?

April has averaged 41" over the last 12 seasons, beating out February (51") by 10".

I got these snowfall numbers by taking the total snowfall data for each month that's provided by Tourism Whistler. Dropping the highest snowfall year and the lowest snowfall year to smooth out any anomalies. Then I took the average for each month over that 12 year timeframe.

What weeks have the least expensive packages?

The last week of November and the first 3 weeks of December. During this timeframe (11/28-12/20) the prices are 70% below the season average

What weeks have the most expensive packages?

The last week of December through the first week in January. During this timeframe (12/21-1/4) the prices are 141% above the season average

I got these ski package prices and price break dates from the WhistlerBlackcomb.com website. They have prices for ski & stay packages listed for 4 night/3 day, 5 night/4 day, 6 night/5 day, and 7 night/6 day packages. I totaled up the prices for each package category within each time frame and averaged them out.
