Overview

The Good

  • Reliable snowfall and excellent ski touring across resorts
  • Top notch terrain park plus an open gate for backcountry access
  • Modern and fast lift system combined with quiet slopes during the week
  • In-bounds off-piste terrain serves up waist deep pow!
  • Family-friendly resort

The Bad

  • On-mountain dining lacks variety and restaurants get packed!
  • Extremely limited accommodation options at the base areas
  • Lack of après-ski and off-slope activities

Find Freshies: Head over the back ridge at Goryu or weave through the trees at Hakuba 47 for plenty of powder stashes. The resort is north facing so the snow is fresh for days!

Ditch the Crowds: Intermediate skiers can escape the crowds in the Iimori area while advanced skiers can check out the well-spaced out Grand Prix Course. During weekends, Hakuba 47 sees fewer local crowds.

Local's Pick: Route 1 at Hakuba 47 is a long, straight and fast run, so fast in fact, it's used for downhill races! In Goryu, the Grand Prix Course has just the right steepness and enough space to make wide turns. Dive into the off-piste trees along this course, the waist deep pow here is a real treat!

It absolutely dumped down a few days before going up, and it was still snowing when we arrived. And what a treat that was! It was awesome, not only did it have all the facilities you'd expect from a Japanese resort, it had the most amazing back country. There was a lot of info... More

Hakuba 47 & Goryu are fantastic resorts. To be able to ski both in a day was like an alpine adventure. Excellent free bus to the lift terminals from Hakuba town. Tasty lunch time food on the mountain.... More

Hakuba 47 & Goryu were fantastic resorts. Excellent snow for start of season in January, short wait times in line for lifts and wonderful long scenic runs. Excellent food options for lunch.. Great free bus services between lifts and town.... More

We visited Hakuba 47 in 2016 and had an amazing trip. I was a beginner at the time with only 3 days under my belt but my partnet is really experienced and we both had a blast. The runs were so long and there were so many options. You just cant beat a nice long soak in the onsen... More

Skiing at Hakuba 47 and Goryu was an amazing experience and perfect for a first time skier. There are a range of slopes which will challenge both beginner and more advanced skier/boarders. Since skiing at Hakuba 47 and Goryu I've been dreaming of my return to the slopes.... More

Hakuba is an amazing resort with easy access to Tokyo via the train system, deep snow (up to 11 metres per season if I remember correctly) it has a great apres of an afternoon and still has some Japanese culture left with some great little restaurants and bars. I stayed in... More

We stayed in echoland and 47 was easily accessible with a short free shuttle ride, great terrain to keep us going back instead of trying all the other mountains day. Heaps to explore or and with every run we would pick better and better tree runs through untouched powder ! Good... More

Hakuba 47 and Goryu are like the theme park's of the Hakuba Valley. The slopes are good, but the terrain parks are better. If you are an avid adventure skier or you like to spend more time in the air than on the piste, then these two are definitely for you. With a half pipe,... More
